What these tools work out

The session cost calculator multiplies four things: your average bet, the house edge of that bet, decisions per hour and hours played. The result is the money you should expect to lose on average, per session and per hour. The roulette rule comparison and the craps bet cost calculator do the same for one game each.

A worked example

Say you bet $25 on Banker at baccarat, with a 1.06% edge, at 70 hands an hour for two hours. That’s 140 decisions and $3,500 of action, so the expected loss is $37.10, or $18.55 an hour. The same $3,500 at double-zero roulette, at 5.26%, costs about $184. Pace matters as much as the edge: a fast table deals more hands and more expected cost.

What they assume

Your average bet stays about the same, the edge matches the exact bet and rules, and the answer is a long-run average. Any one session can land far above or below it. Read house edge, expected value and session cost, or see the edges in the game edge reference.
